Carl Sagan Lives on New Fox Production of COSMOS Series to Air in Primetime

Carl Sagan grew to fame in eyes of the general public through his groundbreaking PBS television series in the 1980’s “Cosmos.” The series, which brought the entire history of astronomy, astrophysical research, space exploration and the search for life in the universe, into the homes and minds of everyday people, was based on Sagan’s best selling book by the same name.

Now, decades later, Fox and the National Geographic Channel (NatGeo) are co-producing a sort of sequel to Sagan’s work. When complete in 2013, the series, ‘Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey,’ will air on Fox in primetime with encore presentations on NatGeo. A show of this nature on primetime network television is virtually unprecedented, and will bring this subject matter home for a wider audience.

David Semel, known for work on shows like, Heroes, Angel, Roswell and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will direct the 13-part series. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will work with Carl Sagan’s widow, writer-producer Ann Druyan, and astrophysicist Steven Soter to produce the episodes. .....READ MORE
