Now that I have your attention. Hey! Eyes down here, buddy!

Yesterday in New York, Kate Upton was announced as the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covergirl, and the last 24 hours have been a whirlwind for the statuesque 19-year-old beauty. The youngest Swimsuit cover model in nearly 30 years (Paulina Porizkova was only 18 when she graced the cover back in 1984) started her day on the Today show and she’ll visit David Letterman, where her cover was first unveiled yesterday, tonight. Upton took a quick break to chat with Entertainment Weekly about her now-famous cover photo and her role in the upcoming Three Stooges film.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Congratulations. It must be an exciting day for you.
KATE UPTON: It’s been crazy. I’m so happy to be on the cover. I love the photo. I couldn’t be more ecstatic.

Lexus has made no secret of the fact that it is trying for a sexier image, with new designs, new attitude -- and now a hook-up with a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue model.

The promotion also touts the new GS sport sedan with, appropriately, its pinched-waist grill. And it includes "Supermodeled," a new iPhone camera app at the iTunes store that lets you put images of the hot model into your own photos -- a high-tech version of "in your dreams."

Lexus also is glamming itself up with a four-page spread of advertising in the SI Swimsuit print issue and promotion in the tablet versions. Lexus also will be on the scene at Swimsuit issue events in New York and Las Vegas, including sponsoring the Beauties & Beats Music Festival in V egas tomorrow and Thursday.

"What better way to help introduce ... the all-new GS—than with a bold new campaign featuring a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model?" said Brian Smith, Lexus VP of marketing. "With the new GS, there's no going back for Lexus. Instead of just looking at the pictures, consumers can share in the fun through our many campaign components, including having Tori appear in their own photos."...READ MORE
